I am passionate about life and the range of emotions it envokes and I believe my stone sculptures reflect this passion. Stones have their own energy and within each stone is the potential for a new and unique form. I enter into a partnership with the stone, being careful not to impose my will or ego over its natural state. I believe art imitates life in this respect because positive partnerships, including respect and appreciation for the other, are important in any successful relationship.
During the sculpting process I combine my own feelings energy to the stones energy. This blending of spirit is essential in creating something together. I change the stone and the stone changes me, resulting in a sculpture full of energy and movement and an artist feeling liberated. This is why so many of my sculptures can look so different from one another. I think the key to stone sculpting is to try and turn off intellect and rely solely on intuition. That is very freeing and something artists like me aspire to experience. I also love how lasting stone sculptures are, they add warmth and energy to any room and can be touched.
