The tiny North St. Paul Police Department suffered its very first on-duty death on September 7th, 2009 with the killing of Rick Crittenden as he attempted to advise on a domestic disturbance call. His family requested that his portrait be made from a photo of the officer as he walked with his 2 1/2 year old granddaughter, here Rick's wife, Christine, is seen just moments after the veil had been lifted.
