George Mikan, the famous Minneapolis Lakers Basketball player, named as the best basketball player of the first half-Century and the first player nominated to be honored in the NBA's Hall of Fame, was celebrated with a bronze portrait of the great #99 demonstrating his unstoppable "hook shot" during a Diabetes Fund-Raiser at Target Center in 2003. Sculpture was unveiled by George himself during half time between the now Los Angeles Lakers and Minnesota Timberwolves.
