In the mid 1930s Edward Weston photographed a number of nudes. These were usually "body parts," faceless, and were tightly cropped for reasons of design. His wide-angle image titled Nude (1936) has always haunted my imagination – primarily because of the compact position of the model. Using his photograph, I was able to direct my model (Jennifer) to assume and hold the same difficult position. Her long legs added drama to my composition.
