I am a trained as a civil engineer (ETHZ, Switzerland) and a material scientist (MIT, USA). I was born in Chile and have lived in Chile, France, Switzerland, Germany and the US. I worked for a fortune 100 companies in Europe and the US for almost 30 years in R&D, sales & marketing and global business management. My global job allowed me to work and interact with many different cultures from Asia, Africa, Europe and the Americas, the part of the job I enjoyed the most.
I have been passionate about art all my life, at first as a part time artist/student, than a collector and now a full time artist. I am fascinated by materials, the understanding that a very finite small amount of matter was created 13 billions years ago. That all matter that surrounds us is connected, from life to death, from death to life, a mere rearrangement of this initial matter. This rearrangement occurred for billions of years and continues to occur in an ever more and more complex form. A stone, a burl of wood, a chunk of metal all contains that history and the energy of that rearrangement. I strive to visually extract that energy in my artistic work. I seek the original simplicity of matter and/or movements hidden within their complexity.
I am married to Heather and have 5 sons ranging in age from 15 to 30 years old.
Beside art I enjoy, food & wine, travel, sailing, skiing, helping technology start-ups
