Art has been a part my life for as long as I can remember. Making something out of nothing is a rewarding thing to do and my recent efforts have focused on sharing ideas with sculpture. These pieces may seem quite distant from life, but they always start with some experience that has grabbed my attention. It could be as simple as a walk down the produce aisle or a visit with a friend. Ideas evolve as drawings are done and then media decisions need to be made. I have a passion for materials and the challenge they present are perfect for sculpture. My hands get dirty and something tangible begins to appear, an object that reflects my thoughts and interests through shapes, colors, and textures. In the end I hope to have a product that fascinates me and offers some surprises. Then others step up and respond with experiences of their own. The same object may move them in directions quite apart from mine. So art becomes a community effort, an experience that is personal and unique for everyone involved. It's a process I'm lucky to be a part of.
