For me, sculpture is all about light and how light and shadows create form, gesture, texture and dimension. Although I enjoy drawing and creating the illusion of mass, I much prefer working in three dimensions and the tactile pleasures it provides.
My artistic themes focus on beauty, love, and the interrelationship between people. Frequently, I use a touch of gentle humor to make the point (as in my penguin series). While my figurative bronzes tend to be representational and often imply motion, my stone pieces tend to be more stylized and abstract. I enjoy mixing the two media in my sculptures, as I feel this adds interest to the finished work.
