There are six "black boxes" in this series. Each has a different interior. Looking in, the viewer sees a cast face with his own eyes in the place of the figure's eyes. As such, the viewer is simultaneously looking into another's head as well as seeing himself in the other's place.
The cast face lacks racially distinct coloration and reduces each face to shapes and lines and texture. As such, it can be difficult to distinguish differences. In addition, the castings are concave rather than convex. As the viewer looks at the multiple images visible, his brain "flips" the image back and forth.
To call someone an enemy, one must see him or her as "the other." But we are not so different.
