RE-GENERATION

Material: bronze, silicone

I began to realize as I aged and had a child that I had many physical, mental and emotional characteristics in common with my mother. Even more surprising to me were these same character traits showing up in my son. I could see a long line of ancestors with similar habits stretching back in time. I was also assuming the role previously held by my mother, that of the middle-aged woman, caring for children and parents.

The female form represents a somewhat amorphous blob of unchanging substance (DNA, perhaps), who has removed one mask (my mother) and is putting on a new one (myself). One day, she will remove my face and don my son's.
