En Pointe came about in the strangest way. Several days before our sculpture co-op session, we were given a photo of the pose so we could construct our armatures and perhaps "clay them up." However, this model never showed up, and we were fortunate to locate another to take her place. Several hours later I had the basic pose, but I wanted to do something much more dramatic and active. So I bent the right leg up and pulled the arms back and En Pointe began to take shape. Using some ballet photos, I completed the figure and decided that in order to dramatize the movement, I would place her on the apex of the pyramid.
