I was asked to create a sculpture in memory of a young lady who died prematurely. The piece was to celebrate the joy she brought into people's lives through dance. She was a ballet dancer and was part of an important dance company in New York. I presented three concepts and her parents selected two of them for me to develop into finished bronzes—this piece and Embraced by Moonlight.
