Edition Size: Unique Piece
Material: Alabaster on Cast Glass Base
There's a strange bit of coincidence here: I was searching for a stone without many markings and I saw this white rock. Oddly enough, it was called Polar Bear Alabaster. As I looked at it more closely, I saw the general shape of a bear's head, and I knew this was the one I had to have. Throughout the carving process, I changed the design three times—proof positive that if you make a mistake while carving, you can almost always take a new direction. The cast glass iceberg on which he floats sets Playful in the Arctic.
