"Where is the water?" you may ask. When I first started modeling this mature figure, I envisioned her sitting by a riverbank or lakeshore watching the small fish swim by. This lead to the question, "Does the figure need a base or not to place her by the water's edge?" The answer in my mind is that it could go either way. She has one now, and I feel it is a stronger piece.
More important, however, is the feeling she evokes. To me, she is serene and inquisitive, comfortable with herself and the world around her.
