I'm primarily interested in figurative work, portraits, wall pieces, tiles, and animals of the forest. I sometimes collaborate with my son Fred Goughnour, who will create frames or sets for my pieces.
My husband and I retired to Green Valley, Arizona and I found a sculpture studio in our community. My clay pieces were shown in Hilltop Gallery, Nogales, Arizona and at Tubac Center of the Arts, Tubac, Arizona. When we moved back to "re-retire" to Minnesota I was delighted to find Minnetonka Center for Arts had a foundry and was offering bronze casting classes.
In 2010 I moved to Helena MT to be with my son, daughter-in-law, and three grandchildren. I've been taking classes at the Archie Bray for seven years and three years ago I was thrilled to be represented by the 1+1=1 Gallery in Helena MT. I have been inspired by the talented residents, fellow students, and close friends living in beautiful Montana. Little did I know I would have such exciting adventures at the end of my life.
My work has been accepted into shows at the Minnetonka Center for the Arts and the Society of Minnesota Sculptors' shows. I have several pieces in private collections, one in particular is a bronze St. Francis of Assi located in St. John's Lutheran Church in Mound, Minnesota, and another St. Francis in Helena MT. I also have made portraits of all my grandchildren, daughters, son, brother and husband!
In 2010, I moved to Helena, Montana and was excited to find I could take hand building classes at the famed Archie Bray Foundation which are taught by the talented residents. Pleased to be getting back to exploring my first love; ceramic clay. This spring I was thrilled to be represented by Maureen Shaughnessy's 1 + 1 = 1 Gallery, located on the famous Last Chance Gultch Walking Mall in downtown Helena.
